Rihards Mačanovskis


RIHARDS MAČANOVSKIS has been a soloist at the Latvian National Opera since 2003. His achievements have been recognised with the “Latvijas Gāze” Annual Award for Opera 2012 as Best Opera Soloist. In 2013 he received the Pauls Sakss Award and was nominated for the Grand Music Award for his outstanding performance of Tchaikovsky’s romances.

Artist received his musical education as part of Gurijs Antipovs class at the J. Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. He has worked with vocal coaches Margarita Gruzdeva and Hans Sotin. At the Latvian National Opera the singer has performed the roles of Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Colline (La bohème), Escamillo (Carmen), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Leporello (Don Giovanni), the title role in Eugene Onegin, Wolfram von Eschenbach (Tannhäuser), Valentin and Wagner (Faust), The President (The Immured), Jakubowsky (The Rose of Turaida) a.o. Rihards Mačanovskis has collaborated with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra; performed concerts in Latvia, Moscow and Aix-en-Provence and participated in guest performances of the LNOB in Bergen (Norway), Dalhalla (Sweden), Bydgoszcz (Poland), Macau and Tallinn.
