Polish mezzo-soprano MAGDALENA URBANOWICZ began studying opera singing at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (Poland) and continued in Italy with soprano Laura Londi and baritone Carlo Meliciani. In 2016, she graduated in Renaissance and Baroque singing from the Conservatory of Florence. In 2019, she also earned a diploma in chamber vocal music. The singer has mastered her vocal skills also with Gianni Fabbrini and Donatella Debolini.
In July 2018, she debuted as Lady Bracknell and Miss Prism in the opera The Importance of Being Earnest by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco during the 70th Lyrical Season of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese. Later on she reprised the opera also in Florence. In June 2019, she debuted as Alcina in the opera Furiosus by Roberto Scarcella Perino at Villa La Pietra in Florence in collaboration with New York University. In September 2019, she performed in Luigi Dei's show Via col tempo – viaggiando su fili di memoria at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Her opera repertoire includes also Cornelia in Händel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Leonia in Peragallo’s La Gita in campagna, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia and Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto, among others. She is also an active concert artist, giving recitals with piano accompaniment as well as performing with orchestras at various concert halls in Italy and elsewhere.
Ms. Urbanowicz is a laureate of several vocal competitions, such as I Prise winner in 56th International Antonin Dvořák Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary (2022) and winner of the 74th Singing Competition for the young opera singers Comunità Europea 2020 of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto A. Belli.
