Latvian soprano ANNIJA ĀDAMSONE, made her opera debut at Latvian National Opera when she was ten years old as the 1st Boy in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and a year later as Gretel in Massenet's Werther.
Most recently she sang Carmina Burana by Orff in Beethoven Hall/ Liederhalle Stuttgart and Fauré Requiem (show "Remember me") in Staatstheater Stuttgart. She also recently performed Stabat Mater by Dvořák in Saint-Michel's Church in Luxembourg. In December she will come back to Liederhalle Stuttgart to make her debut in Ein Deutsches Requiem by Brahms. In June 2023 Annija made her role debut as Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites by Poulenc at the Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart.
Adamsone has sung as a soloist in Konzerthaus Berlin, performing world premiere of Spārni, lielums un spēks by Jančevskis together with Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Berliner Singakademie and Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol (2018).
As a versatile artist, Annija has sung in various concert formations in the fields of opera, oratorio, early music, chamber music and contemporary music.
In January 2023 she performed in the world premiere of the opera Hans und Grete by Cheng at Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart. In October 2022 she impersonated the role of Belinda in the concertproduction of the opera Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and the role of Diane in Actéon by Charpentier at the Concert Hall of the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart. In 2022 she impersonated the role of Walter in the new production of the opera La Wally by Catalani at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart. In 2021 she impersonated the role of Gilda in Rigoletto (excerpts) at the Latvian Academy of Music.
As an oratorio singer Adamsone has performed soprano parts in Magnificat and Christmas Oratorio by Bach, Requiem, Great Mass in C minor and Exsultate, jubilate by Mozart, Stabat Mater by Pergolese, Stabat Mater by Schubert, Stabat Mater by Dvořák, Carmina Burana by Orff, Rejoice in the Lamb by Britten etc.
Annija is a laureate of several competitions: Inese Galante International Competition (2021, 2019), Alfreds Kalniņš Vocal Competition (2015) and International Competition Riga Symphony (2014). In 2020 she won the Peteris Plakidis Chamber Music Prize and in 2021 the DAAD scholarship.
Adamsone began her musical studies in Riga, where she graduated Riga Cathedral Choir School (2017) and then started her studies in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music where Annija earned her Bachelor in the class of Prof. Antra Jankava. 2019/2020 study year she did an Erasmus exchange year at HMDK in the class of Prof. Ulrike Sonntag. Now Annija is a Master Opera graduate of the Opera School of the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart. She took her vocal lessons in the class of Prof. Ulrike Sonntag.
During her studies, Adamsone actively attended master classes (Nelly Miricioiu, Raúl Giménez, Giuliano Carella, Margreet Honig, Claudia Friedlander, Alice Coote, Joy Mammen, Matthias Klink etc.) including early music master classes (Thomas Leininger, Lisandro Abadie).
Annija also has great experience as a professional choir singer. She has performed in the Elbphilharmonie with Gustavo Dudamel, in the soprano group of EuropaChorAkademie led by Joshard Daus (2017). After three intensive years (2016-2019) she is now a former soloist of Riga Chamber Choir Ave Sol.
