Lubov Karetnikova was trained in Opera, Oratorio, and Chamber music. She studied in classes of Barbara Bonney, Wolfgang Holzmair, and Irena Milkeviciute and obtained her Bachelor's and Master's diplomas at Mozarteum University, Latvian Music Academy, and Lithuanian Music and Theater University.
Lubov was born in the United States and has Ukrainian and Russian heritage. She speaks several European languages, allowing her to sing a diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart, Schubert, and Poulenc to Rachmaninov, Walton, and Weinberg.
Her operatic engagements include Gilda in G. Verdi's Opera Rigoletto in Theater-Hof, 2018/2019; Barbarina in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Lithuanian Music Academy, 2019; Nannetta in G.Verdi's opera Falstaff at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, 2019; Maria in L.Bernstain’s musical Westside story at the Lithuanian Music academy, 2019; Pamina in W.A. Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte at Trentino Festival, 2017.
Lubov has performed lied recitals in Wigmore Hall in London, Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, Dzintari Concert hall in Jurmala, and Latvian National Theater in Riga. She gives regular solo recitals at the Artissimo festival in collaboration with the Herman Braun Foundation in Riga. She has performed with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchester in Munich, the St.Petersburg Capella Orchestra , the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, the Riga Chamber Orchestra, and others.
In 2021, Lubov was part of the Russian Seasons festival in St. Petersburg and became one of the eight semifinalists at ARD Musikwettbewerb. In 2022, she was also a finalist in the DEBUT Lied competition and received a scholarship for the 3. Internationale Opernwerkstatt Waiblingen 2022 with Thomas Hampson and Melanie Diener, but in 2024, she received the 1st Prize: Golden Viktoria of the same competition. Lubov was aslo one of the Semifinalist of the Queen Elizabeth competition 2023.
