The Latvian soprano KATRĪNA PAULA FELSBERGA, born in 1999, will make her debut at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in the 2021/22 season, where she will sing the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Most recent operatic performances include the roles of Martha and Mother in Mate Bella's Spring Awakening in 2021 and the role of Bastienne in Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienne with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in 2020. In addition to opera, Katrīna is a passionate Lied performer. In the 2021/22 season Katrīna was selected as a scholar of the Heidelberg Lied Academy 21/22 at the Heidelberger Frühling Festival under the direction of Thomas Hampson. During her time in the Academy, she participated in the Schubert Week 2022 where she worked with such pianists as Graham Johnson, Wolfram Rieger and Hartmut Höll and gave performances in the Boulez Saal in Berlin. She is a laureate of many international singing competitions, including 1st place and diploma for Best Soprano in the 5th International Giulio Perotti Singing Competition (2017) and 1st place in the Alfrēds’s Kalniņš Young Vocalist Competition (2019). She was also a finalist in the 49. Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin in 2020. She has been a participant of the Gstaad Vocal Academy since 2018. In 2019 Katrīna was invited to participate in masterclasses at the Salzburg Withsun Festival, led by Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli and the soprano Cecilia Bartoli. She has also taken part in masterclasses by Margareet Honig. Katrīna began her studies at the Riga Cathedral Choir School, graduating with a diploma in both academic singing and choir conducting. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree at the Berlin University of Arts under the tutelage of KS Prof. Julie Kaufmann.
