Born in Madrid in 1976, Pablo Mielgo began his musical career at the piano before continuing his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, the Reina Sofía School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Early in his career he worked closely with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, James Conlon, Sir Colin Davis and Jesús López Cobos, experiences that profoundly shaped his artistic vision. Since 2014 he has been Artistic and Music Director of the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears, where he has led a deep artistic transformation, expanding the orchestra's international collaborations and welcoming soloists such as Juan Diego Flórez, Anna Netrebko, Lise Davidsen, Pretty Yende, Khatia Buniatishvili, Pinchas Zukerman and Emmanuel Pahud. In 2025 he was appointed Music Director of Florida Grand Opera, where, alongside General Director Maria Todaro, he is leading the creation of the company's new resident orchestra. He is also one of the leading driving forces behind the future Caixa de Música in Mallorca and, since 2005, directs the SaludArte Foundation.
