Pretty Yende has become one of the most striking figures in the world of classical music, winning acclaim from audiences and critics alike with her radiant voice, technical virtuosity and emotional sincerity. In Riga, we regard Pretty Yende as one of our own, since it was here, at the Latvian National Opera, that her professional career began, with her debut as Micaëla in Georges Bizet’s Carmen, as well as appearances in several gala concerts. Her career has developed rapidly, and today she is a regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Opéra National de Paris, the Vienna State Opera and La Scala in Milan.
Her repertoire includes many of the finest roles in bel canto, as well as in French and Italian operas. She is a brilliant Violetta in La traviata, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, and many others. Pretty Yende has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls and regularly appears in solo concerts and gala programmes. She is the laureate of several international competitions and an acclaimed recording artist whose albums, released by Sony Classical, have received wide acclaim.
