Italian conductor LORENZO PASSERINI was born in Morbegno in 1991. He graduated in trombone from the Como Conservatory in 2009 and continued his studies at the Aosta Conservatory. He began studying orchestral conducting in 2010 and made his conducting debut in 2011 with the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, which he co-founded and continues to lead as Artistic Director. Since September 2024, he has been Chief Conductor of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia in Finland.
Passerini has conducted at leading opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Real in Madrid, Sydney Opera House, Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. He has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists such as Nadine Sierra, Pretty Yende, Jessica Pratt and Jonas Kaufmann.
Highlights of the 2024/25 season included debuts at Houston Grand Opera, the Vienna State Opera and Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. In the 2025/26 season, he conducted La forza del destino in Bilbao, Norma in Paris, Madama Butterfly in Frankfurt, Carmen in Dresden and Werther in Naples. He also conducted Aida in Riga with Marina Rebeka, Elīna Garanča and Ludovic Tézier, and made his Royal Opera House debut in London with La bohème in July 2026.
His engagements for the 2026/27 season include Carmen and La bohème at the Semperoper Dresden, Manon Lescaut in Paris, Norma at the Vienna State Opera, Le nozze di Figaro and Turandot in Cincinnati, L’elisir d’amore in Toronto and I masnadieri in Dortmund. Concert appearances include a gala with Ludovic Tézier in Riga and another with Jonathan Tetelman and Marina Monzó in Essen, alongside symphonic concerts in Spain and Italy.
