Irma Pavāre

Mezzo-soprano

Latvian mezzo-soprano IRMA PAVĀRE studied vocal arts in Latvian Academy of Music with the professor Anita Garanča. She made her debut at the Latvian National Opera as Third Dame in Die Zauberflöte in 2008. She has sung Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Schwertleite in Wagner’s Die Walküre, Clarice and Linette in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges, Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Mother Jeanne in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites and others. Irma Pavāre has improved her vocal mastery in masterclasses with Monserrat Caballe, Margarita Honig, Joy Mammen and Snezana Brzakovic. The singer regularly participates in different projects and festivals, such as Sigulda Opera Music Festival, interpreting the role of Meg Page in Verdi’s opera Falstaff, Bersi in Umberto Giordano’s Andrea Chénier; Sacred Music Festival with Bradamante in Vivaldi’s opera Orlando Furioso; festival Dominante with Geneviève in Paul Hindemith’s The Long Christmas Dinner; Cēsis Art Festival and others. Her repertoire also includes operetta, large scale choral symphony performances and wide range of chamber music starting from the beautiful 19th Century Russian romances to contemporary music. In 2019 Irma Pavāre took part in the performance of Michael Tippett’s contemporary opera A Child of Our Time in Konzerthaus Berlin.

Irma Pavāre works as a vocal coach with the young singers in Vocal department of Riga Cathedral Choir School, teaches in the Department of Chamber Ensemble and Piano Accompaniment at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. She’s also active at the Latvian Voice Teachers Association.
