Tenor MATTEO LIPPI was born in Genoa and he won a scholarship to attend CUBEC-Academy of Belcanto in Modena under the guidance of Mirella Freni, his current teacher.
As winner of the competition Toti dal Monte, he made his debut as Rodolfo in La bohème at the Theaters of Treviso, Ferrara, Jesi and Fermo and the following year he is engaged again as Rodolfo in two major new productions of La bohème, the first at the Teatro La Fenice and the second at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
His recent and future commitments include Verdi's Requiem at the Auditorium in Milan and in Florence, the Gala Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London for the 50th anniversary of the Glyndebourne Tour, Pinkerton in Valencia and Florence, the debut in Le Villi in Modena, the return to the Holland Park Festival with the debut in Un ballo in maschera and at the Glyndebourne Festival Tour with the debut and at the Royal Danish Opera as Duca in the new production of Rigoletto, the debut at the NNTT in Tokyo as Rodolfo, Alfredo in Copenhagen, at La Fenice and at Bolshoi, the debut in Macbeth in Bergen and the return to Tokyo for Verdi concerts with Fabio Luisi, the debut in L’amico Fritz at Holland Park, again La bohème at Regio in Turin, in Minorca, in Moscow and in Copenaghen. He sang a new production of Un ballo in Maschera in Copenhagen and took part at the same opera at La Scala. Among recent and future engagements are Ernani in Vilnius, Tosca in Savona and Prague, La traviata in Copenhagen, Vilnius and Moscow, Un ballo in maschera in Oslo, Madama Butterfly in Rome,in Turin and Genova, La bohème in Tel Aviv, the debut at La Scala in I vespri siciliani where he will be back with Simon Boccanegra, Macbeth in Frankfurt.
