Evez Abdulla

Evez Abdulla (baritone) studied at the Academy of Music in Baku and began his career at the Azerbaijan National Opera singing such roles as Amonasro, Germont, Conte di Luna, Scarpia, Escamillo and the title in Rigoletto.

Evez Abdulla’s 2018/19 season includes his debut at Frankfurt Opera with Jago in “Otello” and Don Carlo in “La forza del destino”, a return to Opéra de Lyon for the role of Prince Kurlyatev in Tchaikovsky's “The Enchantress” as well as “Rigoletto”, Scarpia in “Tosca” and Conte di Luna in “Il trovatore” at Nationaltheater Mannheim.

He lately made his debuts as Frank in Puccini's “Edgar” for the St Galler Festspiele, as Aleko and Malatesta in “Francesca da Rimini” for Scottish Opera, as Don Carlo in “La forza del destino” with Theater Basel, as Gryasnoy in “The Tsar’s Bride” at Staatsoper Berlin and with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam in the world premiere of Franghiz Ali-Zadeh’s “Nasimi Passion”.

Further engagements have included Germont at Glyndebourne Festival on tour, Miller in “Luisa Miller” and the title role in “Nabucco” for Oper Stuttgart, Ruprecht in “The Fiery Angel” with Komische Oper Berlin and Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, as well as Enrico in “Lucia di Lammermoor”, Renato in “Un ballo in maschera” and Don Carlo in “Ernani” in Mannheim, Aleko and Macbeth at Opéra de Lyon, The Protector in George Benjamin’s “Written on Skin” and Athanaël in Jules Massenet‘s “Thaïs” for Bonn Opera.
