AMIR DODARKHOJAYEV grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He started his training at the Almaty Choreography school by the name of Seleznez and Kazakh National Academy of arts. He continued his ballet training at the HARID Conservatory (Boca Raton, FL) in the fall of 2017 on a scholarship after being recruited at the Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition in New York City. In the spring of 2020, he was invited to join the company of Orlando Ballet after his graduation from HARID where he was shorty promoted the following year. Amir performed Principal roles in ballets: The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Gisselle, Romeo & Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Dracula, George’s Balanchine Serenade, Company B by Paul Taylor, First Flash by Jorma Elo, Sagolobeli by Uri Posukhov, Maple Leaf Rag by Martha Graham and US premiere of Kenneth Tindall's ballet Casanova.
His participation in international competitions has been crowned with numerous awards. In 2020, at the Youth America Grand Prix in Dallas, United States, the 1st place in Classical Dance was achieved, while in 2017, at the New York finals of the same competition, a place among the Top 12 in Classical Dance was secured. That same year, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the Orleu Competition brought another 1st place in Classical Dance. In 2016, at the international Roses of Kazakhstan competition, two first prizes were awarded – in both Classical and Contemporary Dance. Also, in the same year, at the Riga Spring Competition in Latvia, two top awards were earned: 1st place in Classical Dance and 1st place in Contemporary Dance.
