Jūlija Vasiļjeva received her bachelor’s degree under the tutelage of Professor Anita Garanča, and her master’s degree, under Professor Lilija Greidāne, from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. She has participated in productions of the JVLMA Opera Studio Figaroand attended masterclasses by such teachers as Edda Moser (Germany), Renato Bruson (Italy), Axel Everaert (The Netherlands), Inga Kalna (Latvia/Germany). Currently she regularly works with Margarita Gruzdeva.
She has been a soloist with The Latvian National Opera since 2013 and has interpreted the roles of Gilda in Verdi’s opera Rigoletto, Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Donna Anna in Le nozze di Figaro, Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Liù in Turandot, Maija in Zigmars Liepiņš’ The Rose of Turaida. She has sung Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust and Norina in Donizetti’s opera Don Paquale.
Jūlija Vasiļjeva won the Grand Prix at the Rising Stars competition organised by Mihail Kazinik in Riga in 2012 and was invited to perform at the German Tennigkeit agency’s summer festival in Italy. The singer has also performed at the Sigulda Opera Festival, gala concerts at the Latvian National Opera and has interpreted Latvian vocal chamber music programs.
