Tom Wisser

Lighting Designer

TOM VISSER is an acclaimed lighting designer specializing in dance. Born into a theatrical family, he grew up in the Irish countryside and began his career in musical theatre at the age of 18. In 2003, he joined Nederlands Dans Theater and since then he has focused primarily on lighting design for dance productions.

Visser’s work has illuminated multiple winners of the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production. Over the years, he has collaborated with some of the world’s leading performing arts companies, including Nederlands Dans Theater, The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera, The Norwegian National Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, The Royal Swedish Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and Sadler’s Wells, among others. He has created original lighting designs for renowned choreographers such as Alexander Ekman, Hofesh Shechter, Johan Inger, Crystal Pite, Stijn Celis, Medhi Walerski, Lukas Timulak, and Joeri Dubbe.

Since 2016, Visser has also expanded his artistic practice to include his own projects, exploring art installations and interactive media.
