The opera’s plot is based on Walter Scott’s popular novel The Bride of Lammermoor, a story of bitter hatred between two Scottish families at the end of the 17th century.

A concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s masterpiece at the Latvian National Opera — featuring outstanding stars of the opera world! Making her debut in Latvia will be the internationally acclaimed British-born Australian soprano Jessica Pratt – one of today's most dazzling interpreters of bel canto – in the title role. Joining her on stage will be the virtuoso South African tenor Levy Sekgapane, Canadian-American bass John Relyea, renowned for his powerful voice and commanding stage presence, and the expressive Romanian baritone Bogdan Baciu.
