ASAMI NAKASHIMA was born in Osaka, Japan. She began to study ballet at the age of six in her hometown. Between 2008 and 2010 she attended the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera and successfully completed it. She joined to SNG Maribor Ballet in the season 2011/2012.
She danced Amor and Kitri’s Friend (Don Quixote), Columbine (Romeo and Juliet), Myrtha, Peasant pas de deux (Giselle), Small Swans, Pas de Trois (Swan Lake) Medora and Gulnare (Le corsaire), Ingrid, Anitra (Peer Gynt), The chosen One (The Rite Of Spring), Olga (Onegin), Clara (Nutcracker), Red (Walking Mad) and Sylph (La Sylphide). She also performs in virtually all dance productions of the SNG Maribor Ballet (Dangerous Liaisons, Zorba the Greek, Carmen, Stabat Mater, Tango, Prêt-à-porter, Paquita, etc.) and in major productions of the Maribor Opera with added choreographic points (Aida, Hoffmann's stories, Black Masks, La Traviata, Rusalka, Turandot, etc.).
She received several awards for her artistic achievements, including the special prize (2011) and the Lydie Wisiakova prize (2017), awarded by the Society of Ballet Artists of Slovenia. And she also won a bronze medal at the 27th International Ballet Competition in Varna 2016. She performed at several gala ballet events in Riga, Jurmala, Osaka and Tokyo.
