After training as an interior decorator at the theater in his hometown of Heilbronn, MARVIN OTT studied scenography under Prof. Colin Walker in Hannover, which he completed with a work on Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mzensk. His stage designs have so far been seen at the Opera Stabile at the Hamburg State Opera (Georg Friedrich Händel's Alcina) and at the Staatstheater Braunschweig (Überzeugungstäter by Auftrag : Lorey), among others. In Träume werden Wirklichkeit by Christian Lollike, also in Braunschweig, he was responsible for stage and costume design. At the Theater Landungsbrücken Frankfurt, he created the stage design for the production Ich bin der Wind in collaboration with the director Kornelius Eich, as well as currently for Das weiße Dorf. After diverse guest assistantships and stage design collaborations, he has been a permanent stage design assistant at the Hannover State Opera since 2019. There he created the sets for the staged concert Stimmen der Nacht: Wiegenlieder and for the music theater performance Stimmen: Liebeslieder, both directed by Martin Mutschler, as well as for Don Giovanni, in a shortened version by Tobias Mertke, and also designed the stage for Frank Martin's Le Vin herbé at the Gartentheater Herrenhausen. Since recently, he has been collaborating closely with Marco Goecke. In the 2020/21 season he took over and finalized the set and costume design by Michaela Springer for Marco Goecke's ballet evening Der Liebhaber. In 2021/ 22 he will continue his collaboration with Marco Goecke at the Hannover State Opera, designing the stage and costumes for his ballet evening A Wilde Story.
