Nicol Hungsberg, born in Germany, worked as lighting designer at several German opera houses and theatres, such as Theater Rudolstadt, Staatstheater Kassel, and Städtische Bühnen in Frankfurt/Main. He was furthermore involved in productions at Kunstfest Weimar, Theaterhaus Jena, and Staatstheater Saarbrücken. Since 2009 he has been employed at the Oper Köln as both lighting designer and deputy head of lighting department. In addition, he has also been working at 'Bayreuther Festspiele', holding the position of deputy head of lighting department for the past 5 years. To this day he has collaborated with directors such as Sebastian Baumgarten, Jan Bosse, Johannes Erath, Katharina Thalbach, Uwe Eric Laufenberg, and Viestur Kairish, among others.
