Alexander Sivaev began his creative career at The Young Actors Musical Theatre. In 2008 he graduated from the production faculty of the Nemirovich-Danchenko Studio School of the Chekhov Moscow Arts Theatre, directed by Damir Ismagilov. Previously he worked in the lighting design department of the Bolshoi Theatre (2008-2012). As an assistant lighting designer, Alexander worked together with Gleb Filshtinsky. Since 2014 he has been chief lighting designer in Moscow operetta house. In his capacity as a lighting designer he has worked at numerous theatres including the Mariinsky Theatre, the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, the Royal Swedish Opera, the Hungarian National Opera, Theatre Basel, Saarländisches Staatstheater, and the Hanover Theatre. He has also worked at drama theatres including the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, the Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre and the Sovremennik Theatre. Together with the company Stage Entertainment Russia he has designed for the musicals Zorro, The Sound of Music, Cinderella as well as numerous ice shows and award ceremonies. He was nominated for the Golden Mask award several times and received the award for Run at the Vakhtangov Theatre (2016).
