Vincent Boussard staged his first works at the Comédie-Française theatre where he led the theatre studio from 1996 to 2000. At the beginning of his career Boussard directed both theatre as well as opera, but since 2000 he has turned solely towards opera. The director has produced successful operas in Berlin at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, in Strasbourg at the Opera national du Rhin, in Barcelona at the Liceu, in Toulouse at the Théâtre du Capitole, in the Hamburg Staatsoper, in the Brussels’ Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, in Vienna at the Theater and der Wien, in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, in Stockholm at the Royal Swedish Opera, in Tokyo at the New National Theater, at the Semperoper in Dresden, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, in Essen at the Aalto Theater, in Seul at the Korea National Opera as well as in Frankfurt, San Francisco, Marseille, St. Gallen, Lausanne, Vilnius and other cities. Boussard has produced operas at such notable festivals as the Osterfestspiele in Salzburg, at the Festival International d’art lyrique in Aix-en-Provence, at the Festwochen der Alten Music in Innsbruck, at the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, and the Festival Amazonas de Ópera in Manaus, Brazil, amongst others.
During the 2018/2019 season, Boussard will stage the opera The Puritans by Vincenzo Bellini at the Frankfurt Opera, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera The Marriage of Figaro at the Marseille Opera.
