Stage Director LAURA (Laura Groza) graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Latvian Academy of Culture (2008) and has since directed around 40 productions and several operas. She has collaborated with some of the most prominent Latvian and internationally renowned artists—both actors and creative team members. Laura's productions regularly receive acclaim from theatre professionals and audiences alike. She has worked with prestigious theatres and opera companies in Latvia and Lithuania, including Daile Theatre, Liepāja Theatre, Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre, Latvian National Opera, and Klaipeda Drama Theatre.
Throughout her career, LAURA has directed numerous critically acclaimed productions, including opera Immured (2016) by Ēriks Ešenvalds and Inese Zandere and I Played, I Danced (2019) at the Latvian National Opera.
LAURA has been nominated multiple times for the Spēlmaņu nakts Award; she received this award in the category Director of the Year for Equus (2015) at the Dailes Theatre and 1984 at the Liepāja Theatre, as well as in the category Production of the Year for Children for The Republic of Vārnu Street (2011). She also received the Spēlmaņu nakts Audience Award for Equus. In 2019, the artist was awarded the Latvian Great Music Award for the opera I Played, I Danced. Several of Laura’s productions have been recognized with the Latvian Television and Latvian Radio Annual Award Kilogram of Culture, the Diena Annual Culture Award, and the Liepāja Culture Award. In 2018, the artist received the TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World) Latvia Award in the category Arts, Culture, and Entertainment.
