She began working in film, television, and theatre, starting with Il matrimonio segreto at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Cuvillié-Theater.

Also in 2006, she designed costumes for Salome, directed by William Friedkin at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In the following years, she collaborated, among other projects, with José Cura on La commedia è finita and Un Ballo in Maschera.

Collaborating with the director Johannes Schaaf, they created Tosca (Semperoper in Dresden, 2009) and Marie Victoire (Deutsche Oper Berlin, 2009), while the collaboration with director Chen Shi-Zheng led to Farewell My Concubine (Reignwood Theatre Beijing, 2011) and Nixon in China (Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, 2012).

This was followed by La Cenerentola (Vienna, 2013) and Eine Nacht in Venedig (Dresden, 2013). She began working with Robert Carsen, with whom she collaborated on Die Zauberflöte (Baden-Baden, 2013), Les festes vénitiennes (Opéra-Comique in Paris, 2014), Co2 by Giorgio Battistelli (Teatro alla Scala in Milan, 2015), La fanciulla del West (Teatro alla Scala in Milan, 2016), L'Orfeo (Opéra in Lausanne, 2016), and Don Carlo (Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, 2016, Teatro La Fenice, 2019). Other projects with Carsen included The Tempest (Comédie-Française in Paris, 2017), Die tote Stadt (Komische Oper Berlin, 2018), and The Beggar's Opera (Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, 2018).

In 2019, she co-designed costumes with Milena Canonero for Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Greek National Opera, directed by Fanny Ardant.

In 2022, she collaborated for the first time with Claus Guth on the production Bluthaus at the Bayerische Staatsoper - Staatsschauspiel in Munich, Bavaria, followed by Don Carlo at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples in 2023.
