Edem Umerov

The baritone Edem Umerov was born in Samarkand. In 1991 he graduated from the StPetersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (classes of Professors Steblyanko, Okhotnikov and Zastavny). Lead soloist with the StPetersburg Chamber Opera Company from 1992. Joined the Mariinsky opera Company in 1998.

His repertoire includes Boris Godunov, Rangoni, Mityukha (Boris Godunov), Mazeppa (Mazeppa), Tomsky, Zlatogor (The Queen of Spades), Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta), Yushko Velebin (The Maid of Pskov), Grigory Gryaznoi (The Tsar's Bride), Aleko (Aleko), Tonio (I pagliacci), Nabucco (Nabucco), Ezio (Attila), Macbeth (Macbeth), Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Amonasro (Aida), John Falstaff (Falstaff), Telramund (Lohengrin), Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Alberich (Das Rheingold, Siegfried), Alberich, Gunther (Götterdämmerung), the High Priest (Samson et Dalila), Jokanaan (Salome), Barak (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Klingsor (Parsifal), Roger (Król Roger), Duke Bluebeard (Duke Bluebeard's Castle), Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin) etc.

Together with the Mariinsky Opera Company he has toured to Great Britain (the Real Opera House, Covent Garden), Italy (La Scala, Ravenna Festival), Spain (the Teatro Real), Germany (Baden-Baden) and Israel.
