Swedish born BENGT-OLA MORGNY was educated at the Music Academy in Gothenburg. After beginning his professional career at the Opera in Gothbenburg, he got a contract at Deutsche Oper, Berlin, where he sang from 1986-1993. From 1993-96 he was engaged as soloist at Oper der Stadt Köln. Since 1995 he has also been a member of the ensemble at the Royal Opera, Copenhagen. In addition Mr.Morgny has performed in opera houses like Royal Swedish Opera and Drottningholm Palace Theater in Stockholm, Opéra de Monte Carlo, Grand Théatre de Genéve, Staatsoper Hamburg, Bayerische Staatsoper and Théatre de la Monnaie.He has also performed at operas in cities such as Paris, Gothenburg, Malmö, Oslo, Nancy, Lausanne, Antwerp, Spoleto, Tel Aviv, Mexico City and Sarajevo.
Soloist's wide repertoire includes Mime (Siegfried and Das Rheingold), Pedrillo (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail), Don Basilio/Don Curzio (Le Nozze di Figaro), Arbace (Idomeneo), Monostatos (Die Zauberflote), Dance Master and Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), Azor (Zemir and Azor), Wenzel (The Bartered Bride), Pong (Turandot), Spoletta (Tosca), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Jacquino (Fidelio), Dr.Cajus (Falstaff), Herr Leonard (Maskarade), Arthur (Das Schloss) a.o.
Bengt-Ola Morgny has also been soloist in several passions and oratorios - Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St.Matthew Passion and Haydn's Creation. He has also participated in TV recordings of Die Entfurung, Les Hugenottes, Turandot, Oedipus Rex, and can be heard on recording of Hindemith's Mörder, Hoffnung der Frauen.
