Ticket sales begin for the opera "Flavio, re de" Longobardi" and Riga Opera Festival 2025
Ticket sales for the new production of George Frideric Handel's opera "Flavio, re de' Longobardi" and the Riga Opera Festival are about to start. Priority group tickets will be available starting from December 4 at 11:00 AM, while general sales will commence on December 5 at 11:00 AM.
Handel's opera "Flavio, re de' Longobardi" will premiere on May 21. The opera's main character, Flavio, desires the daughter of his counselor, Teodata. His passion sparks a series of events intertwining love and political intrigue, tragedy, and comedy. Composed in 1723, "Flavio" is considered a rarity in the operatic repertoire. Audiences at the Latvian National Opera will experience this masterpiece through the highly acclaimed staging from the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2023. Directed by renowned Croatian countertenor Max Emanuel Cenčić, the production is crafted in collaboration with set designer Helmut Stürmer and costume designer Corina Grămoșteanu.
A classical and contemporary ballet evening titled "Possible..." will take place in the New Hall on May 23, showcasing Latvian National Ballet dancers in roles as choreographers and featuring excerpts from their dream performances.
The Riga Opera Festival 2025 will be held from June 1 to June 20. Audiences will enjoy the latest opera productions, including "Flavio, re de' Longobardi", "L'elisir d'amore", "Salome", "Macbeth", and "Les Contes d'Hoffmann". Ballet enthusiasts will be treated to a diverse program featuring productions such as "Antonija #Silmači", "Swan Lake", "La Esmeralda", "Casanova", and "Nijinski". The festival will culminate in performances of three Giuseppe Verdi operas from the LNO’s golden repertoire: "La traviata", "Aida", and "Nabucco", featuring exceptional guest soloists. As per tradition, the festival and the season will conclude with a grand Gala Concert on June 20.
