Several debutes in opera "La Traviata" on November 11

Several debutes are expected in the opera "La traviata" on November 11. Soprano Inga Šļubovska will interpret the role of Violetta Valéry and Jānis Apeinis will sing Giorgio Germont. The Latvian National Opera Orchestra  will be conducted for the first time by maestro Ayyub Guliyev.

An internationally renowned symphonic and operatic conductor, Ayyub Guliyev is a Principal conductor and Artistic director of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre and Guest conductor of the Kunming International Philharmonic (China). Maestro if the winner of the 2011 Arturo Toscanini International Competition for Conductors (Parma, Italy), he has been also awarded First prizes at the Witold Lutosławski Competition for Young Conductors in Bialystok (2006), The International Conducting Competition in Craiova, Romania and the Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition in Athens among others.

The production of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La traviata" was created by the Stage Director Andrejs Žagars, Set Designer Andris Freibergs, Costume Designer Kristīne Pasternaka, Choreographer Elita Bukovska and Lighting Designer Gleb Filshtinsky. Premiered in 2007, the production has become an audience favorite from the repertoire of the Latvian National Opera. On November 11, the role of Alfredo Germont will be sung by Mihails Čuļpajevs and Flora by Ilona Bagele.
