Many years ago, percussion musician Ivo Krūskops had an idea to arrange some of the most popular opera excerpts for the percussion ensemble. Now it comes real! On the stage – all percussion of the classical orchestra, a drum kit, and other rhythm instruments. The repertoire – all “gold fund” of opera from ouvertures and choruses to arias that characteristically reflect the repertoire of the LNO. Alongside with Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s Il trovatore, Rigoletto, La traviata and Nabucco, Puccini’s Turandot and La Boheme, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and suite of Wagner’s music, there will be some “guests”, also well-known to our house if we are looking at the history: Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, as well as The Golden Horse by a Latvian composer Arvīds Žilinskis, and Fire and Night by another one, Jānis Mediņš.
