Pavel Akimkin is an actor, musician, and composer. He is a graduate of the Gnesins Musical Academy in the Director of Folk Choirs specialty, as well as the Theater Director Faculty of the Russian Academy of Theater Art as an actor (2006). Pavel works as an actor at the Theater of Nations, studio SounDrama, and elsewhere. He has acted in the films Biographer, Eight, Doctor, Two Antons, and Moscow I Love You. In addition to acting, he writes music for theater and cinema, usually in collaboration with the director and choreographer Sergei Zemlyansky. In Latvia, Pavel has written music for the plays Marriage by Gogol and Indulis and Ārija by Rainis. He has also written the score for a number of plays at the Moscow Gubernia Theater, Moscow Pushkin Drama Theater, Moscow Yermolova Drama Theater, and for Nikita Mikhalkov Academy of Cinematography and Theater. He is the author of the music for the film I Am a Teacher (2016). In 2015 he was nominated for the Spēlmaņu nakts award for his music for Indulis and Ārija. He is the recipient of the MK Award in the categories Best Music (for the play Shukshin’s Stories, 2006) and Best Supporting Actor (for the play City. OK, 2012).
