Ulvi Azizov

ULVI AZIZOV was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is a successor of his father - famous dancer of former USSR period, People's artist of Azerbaijan Rafig Azizov. From 1992 till 2003 Ulvi Azizov studied at the Baku Choreographic School, P.Agaliu first experimental class.
 
In 2002 Ulvi Azizov won the Prize of the International Ballet Competition and the Special Prize of the city St.Polten, Austria.
 
In 2007, he was invited to join the Latvian National Opera Ballet company. In 2008, Ulvi Azizov was nominated to the Latvian Annual Theatre Award as the Ballet Artist of the Year.
 
His repertoire includes roles in such ballets as Don Quixote (chor. M.Petipa/A.Gorsky), La Bayadère (chor. M.Petipa), Sleeping Beauty (chor. M.Petipa), The Nutcracker (chor. L.Ivanov), Swan Lake (chor. M.Petipa/L.Ivanov), Giselle (chor. M.Petipa/J.Perro/J.Coralli), Lady of the Camellias (chor. N.Magalashvili), La Fille Mal Gardée (chor. K.Shmorgoner), Francesca da Rimini, Black and White, Attraction, Carmen (chor. P.Agaliu), 1000 and 1 night (chor. N.Nazirova), Spartacus (chor. G.Hasyanova), Queen Aba (chor. S.Teregulov), My Friend the Mediterranean Sea (chor. M.Balkan) as well as the productions at the Latvian National Opera (see below).
 
Ulvi Azizov has participated in several World International Ballet Galas and various festivals in Italy, Finland, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Russia, performing Igidler and Gaytagi (chor. U.Azizov) and Breakthrough (chor. A.Leimanis).
 
In 2009, Ulvi Azizov was appointed the artistic choreographer of the GalaPerformance devoted to the Day of Azerbaijan in Latvia, and joined the Azerbaijan State Opera as the guest principal dancer where he debuted as Basile in Don Quixote.
