Thando Zwane studied at the Tshwane University of Technology (Department of Vocal Art), where he was the first Swazi and only the second international student ever admitted, in January 2017, to rave reviews, Thando sang the title role in Brooklyn Theatre’s (Pretoria, South Africa) production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In March 2017, he becomes a full-time member of the Cape Town Opera Studio, making him only the second ever Swazi to join this elite collective of African excellence. Achievements through which amongst many others, he hopes to inspire the next generation of opera singers in Swaziland, a few which he already is teaching, mentoring and connecting to some of South Africa’s conservatoires on hopes of a growth in opera music awareness in Swaziland and Africa at large. Thando Zwane has gained success participating in many international competitions including Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2018.
