The Ukrainian bass SERGEY KOVNIR graduated from the Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Kiev. Since 2003 he is a soloist at the Ukrainian National Opera.

His repertoire includes Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Pimen (Boris Godunov), King René (Iolanta), Sobakin (The Tsar's Bride), Timur (Turandot) etc.

Sergey Kovnir is a 1st prize winner of the Boris Romanovich Hmyria Competition and the International Singing Competition St Petersburg and a 3d prize winner of the International Opera Singers Contest of Galina Vishnevskaya.
