Pavel Petrov (tenor) is the 1st prize winner of Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition and the 3rd prize winner of Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2018. Since 2016, he is the soloist of the Graz Opera.
He studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Music and mastered his skills with prominent professionals such as Dmitry Vdovin, Adrian Kelly, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Hedwig Fassbender and Fabio Luisi, among others.
In 2012, Pavel Petrov joined the ensemble of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus taking on roles such as Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata, Lykov in The Tsar’s Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov and Young Gypsy in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko, among others.
The 2016/17 season marked his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Pong in Puccini’s Turandot and cover Alfredo in La traviata, as well as his first fixed engagement with Oper Graz where he performed Alfredo in La traviata and Prunier in Puccini’s La rondine. During the 2015/16 season, Pavel Petrov was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Zürich Opera.
His recent and upcoming engagements include Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème, Chevalier Belfiore in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Narraboth in Richard Strauss’ Salome for Graz Opera; Lensky at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt; debut in Salzburg Festival 2018 in the role of Chaplitsky in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame next to his other debut as Ferrando in Così fan tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for Opera Australia; Lensky at the Lausanne Opera; Lykov in The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for Teatro Santiago de Chile; Alfredo in La traviata with Kölner Philharmonie, the Latvian National Opera and the Festival Arena di Verona.
