The Canadian and French Mezzo‐soprano Nora Sourouzian appears as a freelance opera singer all over Europe, in Canada and Japan since more than ten years.
In june 2012, with great success, she had her debut as Santuzza, Cavalleria Rusticana, Lucca’ Italy. Also in Italy, in December 2011 she sang the role of “Carmen” at the Teatro Lirio di Cagliari; besides several concerts in Switzerland and I t a l y, she has been taking time to enrich her repertoire during the year 2001. In the season 2010/11 she sang „Carmen“ and „Charlotte“ (Werther) in Riga, LNO, and „Dulcinée“ (Don Quichotte) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
As „Carmen“ and „Il Paggio“ (Salome) at the Teatro Communale di Bologna, she appeared in season 2009/2010, also as as „Carmen“ at Opera Leipzig and Köln, and in the role of „Isolier“ (Le Comte Ory) at the Theater Halle.
Nora Sourouzian sang „Carmen“ in many places, such as Cardiff, Québèc, Oslo, Lausanne (with a tour through Japan), Bologna, Leipzig and Zürich, among others.
Her repertoire include roles like: „Pénélope“ (title role of Faurés opera „Pénélope“), „Marguerite“ (La Damnation de Faust), „Phaedra“ (Britten, in a scenic production at the Teatro Communale di Bologna), „Maria Callas“ (Jackie O), „Florinda“ (O Rapaz de Bronze), title role in „Giulio Cesare“, „Komponist“ (Ariadne auf Naxos), main role in „The Rape of Lucretia“ in Rennes und Amsterdam, „Dorabella“ in (Cosi fan tutte) at Landestheater Salzburg, „Nefertiti“ (Akhnaten) and „Cherubino“ (Le Nozze di Figaro). She performed the roles „La mère“ and „La libéllule“ (L’enfant et les Sortilèges) with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra under Ed Spanjaard.
Before being a freelance singer she was member of the ensemble at Staatstheater Kassel where she sang roles like: „Idamante“ (Idomeneo), „Romeo“ (I Capuleti e I Montecchi), „Annina“ (Der Rosenkavalier), „3. Dame“ (Zauberflöte), and more. As Guest she appeared on stages of: Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra du Châtelet Paris, Teatro Sao Paolo Lissabon, Grand Théatre de Genève, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Opéra de Québec, Den Norske Opera Oslo, Welsh National Opera Cardiff, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Teatro Communale di Bologna, Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg, Teatro San Carlo in Neapel and the New National Theatre Tokyo. She sang at the Göttinger Händel--‐Festspielen, Wexford Festival, and at the Festspiele St. Margarethen.
Nora Sourouzian won important competitions in Canada and was a finalist of the Hans Gabor Belvedere Wettbewerb in Vienna. As result of this competition she has been invited by the Opéra National du Rhin in Strassburg to sing the roles of „Comtesse de Coigny“ and „Madelon“ (Andrea Chenier).
The artist works with conductors like: Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Ed Spanjaard, Cyril Diedrich, Marc Minkowski, Christoph Eschenbach or Franz Welser- Möst.
Mahler’s Dritte Sinfonie and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the Haydn Cantata Arianna a Naxos, Mozart Requiem, Brahms Liebesliederwalzer and Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder are part of Nora Sourouzians concert repertoire.

Nora Sourouzians career began with her studies with Prof. Thérèse Sevadjian at University Mc Gill in Montreal. Before going to Kassel for two years, she was a member of the Young Artists Program of the Internationaal Opera Centrum Nederland in Amsterdam.
