As a member of the International Opera Studio of Staatstheater Nürnberg IRINA MALTSEVA was able to expand her repertoire by many roles from Monteverdi to Wagner. Among others, she has performed Melanto and Fortuna (Monteverdi: Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria), Zweite Dame (Mozart: Zauberflöte), Mercédès in Bizet's Carmen, Flora in Verdi's La Traviata, Emilia (Verdi: Otello) and Rossweise in Walküre by Richard Wagner. Irina Maltseva made guest appearances as Zweite Dame at Theater Regensburg, as Annina in La Traviata at Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg ("Irina Maltseva as Annina, who knows to present herself perkily on stage, delights with her fine and flexible voice." Tagesspiegel) as well as a soloist in gala concerts with Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester. At Mozarteum Salzburg she has performed the title role in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia which was highly acclaimed by the press, especially for her "majestic and tragically timbred" voice and intensive interpretation. (Salzburger Nachrichten) As part of a project of Internationale Orgelwoche Nürnberg and Staatstheater Nürnberg she sang the alto part in a scenic version of J. S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
Irina Maltseva has appeared under the baton of such conductors as Marcus Bosch, Wolfgang Katschner, Joana Mallwitz, Guido Johannes Rumstadt and Lutz de Veer and worked with such stage directors as Calixto Bieito, Mariame Clément, Jens-Daniel Herzog, Tilman Knabe, Peter Konwitschny, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Georg Schmiedleitner and Laura Scozzi. She attended master classes with Grace Bumbry, Daniel Ottevaere, Anna Tomowa-Sintow and Daphne Evangelatos.
Irina Maltseva studied at the Russian Gnessins Academy of Music in Moscow and continued her studies at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. After having become member of the International Opera Studio Nürnberg she successfully completed her Master degree at the Hochschule für Musik in Nürnberg.
