IRENE THEORIN started her studies in Göteburg, and then continued at the Royal School of Opera in Copenhagen, working with Birgit Nilsson among others; numerous scholarships made it possible for her to work with Geoffrey Parsons, Anthony Rolfe Johnson and Dame Janet Baker. Iréne Theorin started her career as Nedda in Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. A shooting star among the dramatic sopranos, Iréne Theorin is a permanent guest artist of the Royal Opera of Copenhagen. She sings different roles at Staatstheater Nürnberg, New National Theater in Tokyo, Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Aalto-Theatre in Essen, Opera Köln, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Semperoper in Dresden, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Bayreuth Festival a.o.
Iréne Theorin collaborates with conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Marcello Viotti, Kazushi Ono, Gianandrea Noseda, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev. Her repertoire includes Mozart's Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Electra (Idomeneo), Puccini's Tosca and Turandot, Ariadne (Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos), Verdi's Aida, Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Leonora (La forza del destino), Desdemona (Otello), and Amelia (Un ballo in maschera); Wagner's Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Sieglinde, Brünnhilde (Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung), Elsa (Lohengrin), Elisabeth, Venus (Tannhäuser), and Isolde (Tristan und Isolde).
