Hanna Husāra

Soprano

Young Swedish soprano Hanna Husáhr studied at The Music Conservatory in Falun. At 18, she continued her studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where she graduated in 2006. Subsequently she moved to Stockholm for studies at Stockholm Opera Studio followed by the master’s programme at the University College of Opera in Gothenburg.

Hanna Husáhr was engaged at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. During the season 2010/2011 her roles included Adina in L’elisir d’amore, High Priestess in Aida and Suor Osmina in Suor Angelica. The summer 2011 Hanna sang Giannetta in L'elisir d'Amore and two concerts with Malena Ernman at Dalhalla. She also participated in the Inauguration Concert of Vattnäs Concert Barn near Mora in Dalecarlia.

Hanna made her debut as Leïla in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles at Folkoperan 2009, a role she also performed at Gothenburg Concert Hall in 2010. In the summer 2009 she was cover for Papagena and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte at Dalhalla. The following summer she sang Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at Skånska Operan. During her studies Hanna performed roles including Elena in Gluck’s Paride ed Elena, Giulietta in Bellini’s Capuleti e i Montecchi and Laetitia in Menotti‘s The old maid and the thief.

Hanna Husáhr is often engaged as an oratorio and concert singer and her repertoire includes Bach’s Christmas oratorio, St John Passion and Magnificat, Fauré’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Larsson’s God in Disguise, Mendelssohn’s Hear my prayer,  Mozart’s Ave verum corpus, Requiem and Missa Brevis, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Schubert’s Mass in A-flat major, Söderman’s Spiritual Songs and Vivaldi’s Gloria.
 
Hanna has been awarded scholarships from Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust, the Hugo Alfvén Foundation and the Andrew Sandrews Foundation among others. In 2009 she received a scholarship from Folkoperans vänner for her interpretation of Leïla in Les pêcheurs de perles.

Recent and future engagements include Maria Magdalena in a staged version of Bach’s S:t John Passion at the Wermland Opera, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at Opera på Skäret 2012, Kraus Funeral Cantata and Schubert's Mass in A flat with L'arte del Mondo in Leverkusen and Berlin, and she will also participate in The cunning little vixen at Den Nye Opera in Bergen 2013.
