Elena Gorshunova

Soprano

From 2002 till 2010 Elena Gorshunova was engaged as a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre,where she made her debut as Naiade in “Ariadne auf Naxos”.There Elena has performed a wide repertoire including roles as Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims” and as Pamina in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”.

She has since appeared at the European opera scenes to perform major roles,including the title roles as Contessa di Folleville (“Il Viaggio a Reims”) at the Theatre du Chatelet,at the Washington Opera, Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, Opera de Marseille, Opera de Montpellier, Opera de Nice, Toulouse and at Rome’s Accademia di Santa Cecilia.

As Giulietta (“I Capuleti e i Montecchi) and Elvira (“I Puritani”) in Riga,as Gilda (“Rigoletto”) at the Opera Houses of Nancy and Caen/France, as Catherine in Bizet’s “La Jolie Fille de Perth” at the Stadttheater Bern,as Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the New National Theatre Tokyo.

In the summer of 2009, Elena performed in Gala concert with Elina Garanča (“Elina Garanča&Friends”) in Stift Göttweig (“Klassik unter Sternen”), where they presented a selection of popular operatic arias and duets.

From the 2010/2011 season Elena is a member of the ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden, where she appeared as Gilda (“Rigoletto”), Sophie (“Der Rosenkavalier”), Pamina (“The Magic Flute”), Konstanze (“The Abduction from the Seraglio”), Musetta (“La Bohème”) and Ninetta in Rossini’s “La gazza ladra”.

During the season 2011/2012 she also appearing as Gilda (“Rigoletto”), Pamina (“The Magic Flute”), Servilia (“La clemenza di Tito”),Susanna (“Le Nozze di Figaro”) at the Semperoper, as Corinna in Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims” under the baton of Maestro Alberto Zedda in Vlaamse Opera (Antwerpen).

In the 2012-2013 season, Elena returned to the Semperoper in her role debut as Ilia in a new production of Mozart’s “Idomeneo” and made her debut at the Opera Leipzig as Gilda (“Rigoletto”).She also made her debut at Angers Nantes Opéra as Konstanze in a new production of “The Abduction from the Seraglio”.

She concluded the season at the Semperoper as Gilda and as Pamina and she made her debut at the Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” as Gilda.

Elena’s 2013-2014 season began in a return to the New National Theater Tokyo for her role of Gilda in a new production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and then her debut at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München as Konstanze in Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio”.Then she also performed at the Semperoper “Rigoletto” (Gilda), “Idomeneo” (Ilia) and “The Magic Flute” (Pamina), “Carmina Burana” in München and as Giulietta in Bellini’s “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” (“Klangvokal Musikfestival”, Dortmund).

In 2014, the performances include at the Opera Freiburg (Micaela in “Carmen”), at the Oper Leipzig (Gilda in “Rigoletto”),her debut at the Ópera de Bellas Artes Mexico (Gilda in “Rigoletto”).

In February 2015, Elena debuted as Cleopatra in “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” at the Semperoper Dresden, also in april 2015 she debuted as Princesse Eudoxie in Halévy’s “La Juive” at the Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen.

In the summer of 2015, Elena returned to the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Münich in the role of Konstanze in Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio”.

Russian soprano Elena Gorshunova has won several international awards as 1st prize of the International German Competition of Anneliese Rothenberger , the Geneva International Competition (2003), the Rimsky-Korsakov International Competition (2004), 3d prize at the International Competition of Elena Obraztova (2005).Elena took part in the International Competition of Opera singers Operalia (final).

Elena Gorshunova has worked with such conductors as Valerij Gergiev, Kent Nagano,Karel-Mark Chichon, Paolo Olmi, Luciano Acocella, Vlaidmir Jurowski, Michael Güttler, Alberto Zedda, Nicola Luisotti, Giorgio Morandi, Asher Fisch, Rani Calderon, Julia Jones.
