Anna Malavasi

Mezzo-soprano

Anna Malavasi was born in Mantua and started vocal and piano studies in 1997 at the G.Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro. In 2003 the artist graduated with honors and the same year won the Concorso Internationale di Musica Sacra in Rome.  She also attended masterclasses with Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto and Ileana Cotrubas  

After several years working as a soprano, in 2008 Ms. Malavasi switched to mezzo-soprano and because of the high quality of her full, round voice, charisma and great stage presence she began to attract attention.   In 2009 under the baton of Riccardo Muti she sang Paisiello’s Missa Defunctorum at the Salzburg Festival, Ravenna Festival and at the Teatro Maggio Musicale in Florence, as well as Lucilla in La Scala di Seta at the Rossini Opera Festival.  

In 2010 the artist appeared as Musico in Puccini's Manon Lescaut at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and then added a great success with the title role of Carmen, Tigrana in Puccini's Edgar, and Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto at La Fenice under the baton of Myun-Whun Chung.  

At the end of 2010 she made her role debut as Azucena in Verdi's Il Trovatore in Ravenna. Recently she sang Nabucco(Fenena) at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome conducted by Riccardo Muti, Carmen at the Theater in Lübeck (Germany) and in Palma de Mallorca.

Lately, she performed concerts (Piacenza, Ravenna and Nairobi) in the context of “Le vie dell’amicizia” conducted by Riccardo Muti; Macbeth at the Salzburg Festival, always under Muti’s baton; Carmen with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna Orchestra and Chorus in Japan, Il trovatore a Palermo and Macbeth in Rome under the baton of Riccardo Muti. Among future engagements,  Madama Butterfly (Suzuki) in Rome, Il Trovatore in Oman, Berio’s Folk songs in Cagliari, Carmen in Riga Cavalleria Rusticana e Il Trovatore in Bologna.
