“White Square” in front of the Latvian National Opera invites to relax and enjoy cultural events
White Square, a new outdoor art object, will be available in front of the Latvian National Opera building from July 21. It will offer also series of special events, both on screens (recorded and live) and in person.
This place is designed for the enjoyment of the environment and culture, peaceful relaxation, respectful conversations, diligent work, and establishing of contacts. This outdoor art object White Square has been developed in creative cooperation with the architect Zane Tetere-Šulce, designer Beatrise Dzērve, and the rest of the OpenAD team. It consists of structural elements of sets for performances of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, providing new life for the stairs, platforms, and frames. White Square brings forth the idea of boundaries – stage and the wings, the visible and invisible, and provides an insight into the grand scale of the sets for operas and ballets, not always perceptible from the audience.
