Tickets for the Solo Concert by Thomas Hampson and Kurt Weill’s music program “That’s life…” will be available for sale from January 24, 11 a.m. Both concerts will take place in the Great Hall of the Latvian National Opera with lowered iron curtain, thus creating unique acoustics for chamber music.
On May 10, 2023, the outstanding American baritone Thomas Hampson will give a solo performance in the Great Hall of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet. Accompanied by pianist Wolfram Rieger, he will sing a special program of songs by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt and Gustav Mahler. Thomas Hampson, America’s foremost baritone, hails from Spokane, Washington. He has received many honors and awards for his probing artistry and cultural leadership. He enjoys a singular international career as an opera singer, recording artist, and “ambassador of song,” maintaining an active interest in research, education, musical outreach, and technology.

On May 6, 2023, the opera soloist Ilona Bagele and the musicians of the Latvian National Opera will present a new concert program “That’s Life...” with the music of the legendary German composer Kurt Weill. The cabaret-style concert will feature compositions from the world-famous “The Threepenny Opera”, the unfinished musical “Huckleberry Finn”, the play “Mahagonny”, the musical “Lost in the Stars”, etc. Their arrangements were made by Andrejs Puškarevs, the noted vibraphonist and musician of the world-famous chamber orchestra “Kremerata Baltica”. The program will be performed by Ilona Bagele (mezzo-soprano), Svetlana Okuņa (violin), Inga Ozola (cello), Ivars Kalniņš (percussions), Inita Āboliņa (accordion), Andris Ābelite (trumpet) and Viktors Veļičko (contrabass).
