Tickets for performances in March, April and May 2023 available for sale
Ticket sales for the Latvian National Opera and Ballet performances and concerts in March, April and May will start on December 21. Offer includes the premiere of the ballet “Viy. The Nights of Horror” in April. Two performances – opera “Turandot” and ballet “La Bayadère” – will return to the repertoire in March.
The premiere of the ballet “Viy. The Nights of Horror” by the Ukrainian composer Olexander Rodin and choreographer Radu Poklitaru will take place on April 20. The ballet is based on the motifs of Nikolai Gogol's story “Viy”, and tells about the student Homa Brut’s encounter with dark forces. The World premiere of the Radu Poklitaru’s ballet “Viy” took place at the Kiyiv Modern Ballet. We recommend the ballet for spectators over 14 years of age.
After a longer break, two audience favorites will return to the repertoire; Ballet “La Bayadère” will be shown on March 11 and opera “Turandot” on March 12.
In spring we will welcome several very special guests at the Latvian National Opera. The outstanding maestro Vassily Sinaisky will conduct the opera “The Queen of Spades” by Pyotr Tshaikovsky on March 18. The title role in the Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen” will be sung by Frankfurt Opera soloist, the Latvian mezzo-soprano Zanda Švēde.
We suggest not to miss two ballet productions, which this season will be shown only once: on May 25, ballet “Antonija #Silmači” by Juris Karlsons and Aivars Leimanis, and on April 6, ballet “Three Comrades” by Pavel Akimkin and Sergey Zemlyansky.
