Special guests and debuts expected in Puccini's opera "Tosca" performances in November

This November, Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca will feature several remarkable artistic events, including special guests and debuts. It is also important to mention that November 29 marks one hundred years since the death of the opera's author, the distinguished Italian composer Giacomo Puccini.

On November 7, after several years, the outstanding bass-baritone Egils Siliņš will return to the stage of the Latvian National Opera to perform the role of Scarpia. Dana Bramane will sing the title role, and Andris Ludvigs will perform as Cavaradossi. The Italian maestro Fabrizio Maria Carminati will conduct this performance.

Meanwhile, on November 17, one of the leading sopranos of the Latvian National Opera, Tatjana Trenogina, will debut in the title role. In this performance, Dainis Kalnačs will make his first appearance as Spoletta, and Kalvis Kalniņš will debut as Sciarrone. Andris Ludvigs will reprise his role as Cavaradossi, while Jānis Apeinis will portray Scarpia. The guest conductor Ayub Guliyev, the chief conductor of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, will lead the performance. This year marks 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Latvia supports the Tosca performance on November 17.

In the Latvian National Opera's production, the passion between the opera diva Tosca and the artist Cavaradossi unfolds in the opulent interiors of Rome. The luxurious settings also provide the backdrop for the dramatic encounters between Tosca and the chief of secret police, Scarpia, culminating in a final act that peaks within Tosca's subconscious.

Tickets are available at the Latvian National Opera box office and online.
