"Madama Butterfly" on March 10 and "Turandot" on March 12 conducted by maestro Alberto Hold-Garrido

Maestro Alberto Hold-Garrido is visiting the Latvian National Opera this week, where he will conduct two Giacomo Puccini operas - "Madama Butterfly" on March 10 and "Turandot" on March 12.

For many years maestro ALBERTO HOLD-GARRIDO has been one of the most popular opera conductors in Finland and Sweden. Born in Spain, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen and the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki in the legendary conducting class of Jorma Panula. Work in the profession started as assistant conductor at the Finnish National Opera. From 2001 to 2003 he was the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. From 2013 until 2018 Alberto Hold-Garrido was the principal conductor of the Kuopio City Orchestra. In addition to his career in Scandinavia maestro Hold-Garrido has also established his name in other parts of Europe: the Welsh National Opera, the Frankfurt Opera, in Santiago del Chile, St. Gallen, the Novaya Opera in Moscow, the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon, the Graz Opera, the Nationaltheater in Weimar, the Malmö Opera and the Estonian National Opera, among others.

In opera "Madama Butterfly", on March 10, the role of Cio-Cio-San will be interpreted by our soloist Dana Bramane, but tenor Andris Ludvigs will sing Pinkerton. Performance tickets are available HERE.

On March 12, in the opera "Turandot" we will be able to enjoy the performance of several guest soloists: the title role will be sung by the Lithuanian soprano Sandra Janušaitė, while South-Korean tenor James Lee as Calaf will perform for the first time on the stage of the Latvian National Opera.
