LNO and ENO exchange the guest performances

The Latvian National Opera (LNO) and the Estonian National Opera (ENO) exchange the guest performances in January 18-23.

"The initiative comes from the new ENO chief Aivar Mae", LNO Director Andrejs Zagars revealed. "We also hope that it will be possible to reach agreement on a major joint project among all three Baltic opera companies."
The ENO will present two operas in Riga – "The Love For Three Oranges" (January 22) and "Cosi fan tutte" (January 21, 23), and two ballets – "La Sylphide" (January 19), and "The Three Musketeers" (January 18), while LNO in Tallinn will present its ballets "Giselle" (January 18) and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (January 19), and two operas – "Eugene Onegin" (January 21, 23) and "Madama Butterfly" (January 22).
In November of 2009, all three – ENO, LNO and the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, signed a protocol of intent on exchanging regular guest performances. Each company will show three operas and two ballet productions in the neighbor countries.
