In March, Egils Siliņš will sing at the New National Theatre, Tokyo

The world-renowned Latvian bass-baritone, chairman of the board of the Latvian National Opera, Egils Siliņš, will perform at the New National Theater in Tokyo (Japan) from March 15 to 21, where he will take part in four performances of Jacques Offenbach's opera "Les Contes d'Hoffmann".

In the production of the opera "Les Contes d'Hoffmann " Egils Siliņš will interpret four roles - Lindorf, Coppélius, Miracle and Dapertutto. The musical direction of the production has been entrusted to the music director of the Bremen Philharmonic, Marko Letonja, while its stage director, set and lighting designer is Philippe Arlaud. The last time Egils Siliņš visited the New National Theater in Tokyo was in 2014, when he sang the role of Amfortas in Richard Wagner's opera "Parsifal".

Egils Siliņš is one of the world’s most in demand bass baritones – an international award-winner with 30 years of performance experience in some of the world’s most important opera houses and festivals. Roles in operas by Richard Wagner are a substantial part of his repertoire. Egils Siliņš has performed at prestigious opera houses such as the State Operas in Vienna, London’s Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milan’s La Scala, the Paris Opera, the Staatsopern in Berlin, Bavaria, and Hamburg, and many others. He has also performed at the Bayreuth, Lucerne, Bregenzer, Tanglewood, Glyndebourne, and Tokyo festivals, among others. Siliņš is an officer of the Order of the Three Stars and three-time laureate of the Latvian Grand Music Award.
