Glory to Ukraine! Слава Україні! The Latvian National Opera and Ballet invites you to a charity concert and memorial event

When millions of people suffer the cruelty of the oppressors, we must not remain silent. The voices of opera soloists, choral singers, and orchestral musicians ring loudest and strongest in music, so on 9 May the Latvian National Opera and Ballet invites you to a concert in support of the Ukrainian people, Glory to Ukraine! With this charity concert, the LNOB invites the people of Latvia to continue supporting the Ukrainian victims of war. On Good Friday, 15 April, candles will be lit in the forecourt of the Latvian National Opera from 19.30 to 21.00 in memory of the victims of war crimes.

Concert Glory to Ukraine!  is organised in cooperation with the Latvian National Opera Foundation. The organisers and participants of the concert will do their work free of charge, but all the proceeds from the concert tickets will go to support Ukraine through the Ziedot.lv Foundation. When purchasing tickets, the audience is invited to top up the ticket price with a donation of their choice.

The concert Glory to Ukraine!  is produced by musical director Mārtiņš Ozoliņš, stage director Elita Bukovska, and video artist Zane Zelmene. The Latvian National Opera Orchestra, Choir and soloists Ilona Bagele, Dana Bramane, Jūlija Vasiļjeva, Jānis Apeinis, Pavlo Balakins, Raimonds Bramanis, Rihards Mačanovskis, Krišjānis Norvelis and Artjoms Safronovs will also be joined by soloists Liene Kinča, Inga Kalna, Sonora Vaice, and Egils Siliņš. The program will feature a performance by Latvian National Ballet soloists Elza Leimane and Antons Freimans. Choreographer Alexandra Astreina is staging a special performance for the concert, featuring Ukrainian ballerinas Angelina Bosenko, Elina Bidna, and Ivanna Sulima, who currently work with the Latvian National Ballet.

On Good Friday, 15 April, candles will be placed in the forecourt of the Latvian National Opera from 19.30 to 21.00 in memory of the victims of war crimes, on the initiative of the Confederation of Ukrainian Societies "Viche" and the Riga Ukrainian Folk Theatre, in cooperation with other pro-Ukrainian organisations and with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia.

On 16 March, Russian aircraft bombed the Mariupol Drama Theatre, where hundreds of peaceful citizens were hiding. What makes this crime particularly atrocious is the fact that there was a warning in large letters about children in the building. Artists Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo will create a sign ДІТИ (CHILDREN - in Ukrainian) in the forecourt of the opera house to serve as a reminder of the inhumane events in Ukraine. The commemorative event is supported by the company Dobeles Sveces and The General Radziņš Society.

Tickets for the 9 May concert: HERE. All proceeds will go to the Ziedot.lv project for the people of Ukraine.
