Egils Siliņš begins serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet
On 5 November Egils Siliņš will begin serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet. We wish him luck, success and perseverance!
Egils Siliņš is one of the world’s most in demand bass baritones – an international award-winner with 30 years of performance experience in some of the world’s most important opera houses and festivals. Roles in operas by Richard Wagner are a substantial part of his repertoire. Egils Siliņš graduated from the Latvian Academy of Music receiving his degree as an opera soloist. He has performed at prestigious opera houses such as the Staatsoper in Vienna, London’s Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milan’s La Scala, the Paris Opera, the Staatsopern in Berlin, Bavaria, and Hamburg, and many others. He has also performed at the Bayreuth, Lucerne, Bregrenzer, Tanglewood, Glyndebourne, and Tokyo festivals, among others. Egils Siliņš is an officer of the Order of the Three Stars. In 1996, 2002, and 2014 he was awarded the Latvian Grand Music Award. He speaks Latvian, German, Russian, Spanish, as well as Italian.
For the next five years Egils Siliņš will work together with board members Inese Eglīte and Sandis Voldiņš as the Latvian National Opera and Ballet’s Board of Directors.
