Concert “INGA KALNA. VERDI” on August 14 at the Latvian National Opera

On August 14, the outstanding Latvian soprano Inga Kalna will give a solo performance in the Great Hall of the Latvian National Opera. She will be accompanied by the Latvian National Opera Orchestra conducted by Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.

Inga Kalna is a singer with a beautiful soul, a warm heart, impeccable vocal technique and knowledge of a musicologist. Brilliant in the repertoire of different eras and styles, highlighting the characteristics and essentials in each of them. Currently, the artist lives in Hamburg, but in her anniversary year she wants to delight loyal listeners in Latvia.

Inga Kalna explains the chosen programme of the upcoming concert: "I can only describe my creative work and the choice of the repertoire by paraphrasing the Latvian folk song - ej balstiņa tu pa priekšu, es tavās pēdiņās (Go, my voice, ahead of me, I will follow you). I have always chosen exactly the direction in which my voice developes. For this reason I celebrated my thirtieth birthday at the Opera with a concert of Handel's music, twenty years on stage with a bel canto program, then there was a Mozart’s program with the Sinfonietta Riga, and finally it’s time for Verdi's music.”

From August 18, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet invites you to attend opera and ballet performances. The first new production of the season - Franz Lehár's operetta "The Merry Widow" (“Die Lustige Witwe”) will begin its stage life at the Latvian National Opera on September 22. The performance in our opera house is being created under the leadership of musical director and conductor Thomas Rösner and stage director Uwe Eric Laufenberg.

Tickets for the concert "Inga Kalna. Verdi" can be purchased at LNOB box office, as well as online: https://www.opera.lv/en/production/inga-kalna.-verdi/

The concert will be broadcasted live on Latvian Radio 3 Klasika.
