Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova will debut as Angelina in "La Cenerentola"
On September 29, the Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova will have the Latvian National Opera debut in the role of Angelina in opera La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini. She will return to the stage in the same role also on October 21 and December 8.
Svetlina Stoyanova has obtained a Bachelor degree with Honors and two Masters degrees (Vocal Performance in 2016 and Opera in 2018) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2016, Ms Stoyanova was awarded 3rd Prize and highest ranked female singer in Le Grand Prix de l’Opera de Bucarest, and in 2017, she was awarded 1st prize in the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition. Following her competition success, Svetlina Stoyanova was invited by Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur and Anthéa Theatre to perform Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and the leading role of Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for the Bregenz Festival. Svetlina Stoyanova joined the Vienna State Opera as a soloist for seasons 2018/19 and 2019/20. She has also sung at the Vienna State Opera, Bolshoi Theatre, Sofia National Opera, Teatro alla Scala, New Generation Festival, Elbphilharmonie and Tonhalle, among others. Among her other roles are Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Roßweiße (Die Walküre), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Angelina (La Cenerentola) and Wellgunde in Das Rheingold. With Ensemble Matheus, led by Maestro Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Svetlina Stoyanova made her role debut as Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri) which toured in France.
In the performance of La Cenerentola on September 29, the role of prince Ramiro will be sung by Mihails Čuļpajevs. Other cast: Pavlo Balakin, Julija Vasiljeva, Laura Grecka, Rihards Millers and Rihards Mačanovskis.
