Acclaimed Tenor Benjamin Bernheim Makes His Solo Concert Debut at the Latvian National Opera

On January 22, the world-renowned French tenor Benjamin Bernheim will give his first solo concert at the Latvian National Opera. The programme will feature operatic masterpieces by Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet. Benjamin Bernheim will be joined by the Latvian National Opera Orchestra under the baton of Jānis Liepiņš.

Benjamin Bernheim is widely regarded as one of the outstanding tenors of his generation. He regularly appears at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Paris National Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, La Scala in Milan, and the Royal Opera House in London. He has received particular acclaim for roles such as Roméo, Werther, Hoffmann, Rodolfo and Des Grieux, excelling especially in the Romantic repertoire and French opera.

For his exceptional performances both on stage and on record, Bernheim has earned high praise from critics: the Süddeutsche Zeitung has described him as “the most beautiful tenor voice since Luciano Pavarotti,” while Diapason magazine has hailed him as “the new star tenor.” Following his moving performance at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Bernheim released his first solo song album, Douce France: Mélodies & Chansons. That same year, he was named Best Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards. He also attracted widespread international attention with his brilliant performance at the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, watched by millions of viewers worldwide.

Benjamin Bernheim is an exclusive artist of Deutsche Grammophon, and his solo albums have received outstanding reviews from both critics and audiences around the world.

Bernheim made his debut at the Latvian National Opera in 2017, performing the title role in Charles Gounod’s Faust, alongside Marina Rebeka as Marguerite and Andreas Bauer Kanabas as Mephistopheles. A recording of the production was broadcast on the prestigious European TV channel ARTE’s opera platform. Latvian audiences also had the opportunity to enjoy Bernheim’s voice at the Riga Opera Festival Gala concert Viva Romantica! in 2017.

Tickets are available at the Latvian National Opera box office and online.
